What is an MBOX file?
MBOX is the classic plain-text mailbox format: many email messages concatenated into one file,
each starting with a "From " separator line. Gmail (via Google Takeout), Thunderbird, Apple Mail,
and most Unix mail tools can export it. Files usually have a .mbox extension.
How do I open an MBOX file without installing anything?

How do I export my Gmail to MBOX?

Yes — by construction. The file is read and parsed entirely by JavaScript running in your browser; it is never transmitted. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools (Network tab), load the file, and watch — no file bytes are sent anywhere. The only requests this site makes are page loads, an anonymous usage counter (counts only, never content), and license validation for paid users. Details in the privacy policy.

How big a file can it handle?
The indexer streams the file in 2 MB chunks and keeps only per-message metadata in memory, so multi-gigabyte exports (typical for years of Gmail) work fine. A progress bar shows how far along the indexing is.
Can I import the MBOX into Thunderbird instead?
Sure — Thunderbird with the free ImportExportTools NG add-on does that well. See the Thunderbird import guide. If you just want to look inside the file without installing software, this page is faster.
I already paid but lost my license key — what do I do?
